Sadly….

Sadly….

“It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.”
Lemony SnicketHorseradish: Bitter Truths You Can’t Avoid

This morning grief descended on the family and friends of a young man, husband, father of two very young children, and the only child of two very, very dear friends. I hate cancer…….

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.  Khalil Gibran

“Do not regret growing old. It is a privilege denied to many.”

  1. Thank you ,dearest Cie ,for the “blanket” of words above.
They are so poignant , so wise, so perfectly descriptive of the end of our journey with our son.
Yes, there are great holes in our hearts ,but with friends like you , we’ll put one foot in front of the other and find some lightness in the reflection of him in our two grandchildren ….what blessings he left us .
Love you. And love your wisdom . A wisdom that can only come from a woman who has ached through living many pains . And , despite the pains , has lived by loving endlessly and devotedly despite the heartache that may come…..MB

    • Myra, I had no idea you saw the post, but thank you for reading it and responding despite your heavy heart. Always in my thoughts and prayers, I hope a gentle peace melds into all your memories with and of Andy. I know how dear you hold those two children…what blessings. Love to you my dear friend.

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss.

  3. How sad. I’m so sorry. Thank you for the thoughts you’ve shared above. They will help me, too, as we deal with Tom’s mother’s death. Love, Margaret
