About The Painting
I was drawn back to the books in this painting, and thought they created a good setting for a narrative. I borrowed yesterday’s basic composition, turned it around a bit and lowered the point of view. The shadow area here is a very effective shape with it’s sharp angle. The triangle formed by the light between it and the green pot points us right to where we want to be to find the second elephant hiding in the shadows. Once we notice him, we return to the other elephant and notice he seems to be aware and engaged somehow. This painting is full of interpretive possibilities.
