Oh my, when I first saw this video, it brought back so many wonderful memories of a lot of the travel I have done. As we remember all the fallen soldiers, the video below offers a quite unique perspective of America from the air and is done very close up. In such a compressed few minutes it highlights all that we love, appreciate and value about what a magnificient and varied landscape the United States offers. From sea to shining sea, enjoy, and at 3 pm please remember to observe a minute of silence in honor of those who gave so much to preserve this land that you see in the video. I will be attending a Service of Remembrance at our local Farmer’s Market where at 3 pm they will play TAPS. I found out about the service when of all things, I was at our little shopping center and we saw a veteran, and he was selling poppies! I had just written about the history of Memorial Day (post here), initiated by my not remembering where the poppy fit in, and lo and behold, here was a veteran selling them. What is so odd, is that in the 12 years I have lived here, I have never seen a veteran dressed or a poppy in anyone’s lapel right before Memorial Day or on the day itself.
