Elena Shumilov

Some people are amazingly gifted. I love photography, and have admiration for those who create more than just a photograph from looking through a lens and capturing an image in an artful and often unexpected way. Elena Shumilova is a Russian architect who only took up photography in 2012. She has two sons, ages 5 and 2. The family lives on a farm in Andreapol, Russia, and she wanted to capture the fleeting years of the boys lives in images that often include the farm’s animals. In an interview with the Daily Mail, she shared that she sketched and painted after University and that this informs her photographs, which often appear both magical and ethereal in their composition. The photos speak for themselves, so other than the photos that have titles, I am not making any comments under the photos. Good design is any field is easy to recognize and appreciate, and when it has the power to move you, it becomes art.

I would only suggest that you consider viewing these photographs full screen to be able to enjoy the wonderful details.

  1. Oh my, these pictures left me with tears in my eyes, and precious memories of my own children growing up in my heart. I do have to ask what breed of dog was that ?

    1. Hi believe it is an Anatolian Shepherd or another closely related breed. This photographer really captures the soul of what she see thru her camera lens, that’s for sure.
