Decorating the Floating Shelves.

Decorating the Floating Shelves.

Below are photos of the new shelves decorated, and now useful as well. Much of it I use on a daily basis, and the shelves are handy to the dishwasher as well, so I think it is going to work out well. Piggy got a makeover – a new scarf from my drawer…..one from Billy Bob’s in Texas (Oh so long ago!) that I had never used, and I stained and varnished his chalkboard. So first, a before……..

This is the view from both the family room and the chair where I usually sit in the breakfast room. The ipod speaker in front of Mr. Piggy, the toaster oven, the bill/receipt/record box, and clock......It all got there little by little and is functional but certainly not pretty. When you are in the main kitchen you cannot see it that much. However, every time I looked at it, I have wanted to change it.

and now the afters……..I started by putting additional serving pieces I use on the counter, but decided instead, in the end, to put the ipod speaker there, and keep most of that china across the way in the open hutch, which will need some rearranging.

At first I put the serving pieces on the counter…..too messy.

Like this much better.

A view relative to the French doors. No interference at all, visually or by blocking light. The doors are a bit over 8 feet, so that gives you some perspective. The ceilings in this breakfast room are cathedral.

Straight on of the three shelves. Mr. Piggy got a new scarf, but I stained and varnished his chalkboard, and it wasn’t dry yet.

Mr. Piggy all dolled up and ready to welcome friends.

Really……he is happy with his new place of residence…..really!

Well, I don’t know about you, but going from snow, then still cold temperatures, straight to 94 and staying in the 90 degree range is crazy. I say the same thing every year, spring in the south is short, and we seem never to get any length of time in the 60-70’s before the heat arrives. I am not a fan. Oh well, it is what it is! And I am alive to object to it, and that is certainly better than the alternative!

Thanks for visiting WH&G…….enjoy the weekend! cheers, charisse

  1. Love the shelves and the white on white display although I must say Piggy steals the show. Wow, KBJ is indeed a master at this decorating and building craft. All looks excellent!!!
