It’s Been a While……

It’s Been a While……

and while I wrote a post at Christmas, I have not posted again until now.

Yes indeed, I went down the rabbit hole where the seasons slipped by even quicker than the days……those hot and humid days flowed into the months of summer, which flowed like a mudslide into the end of another year

I have really missed writing my blog, so straight up, let me say I apologize for not staying in touch. To keep it simple, I have struggled with an inability to stay focused, considerable fatigue, weight loss, then weight gain, etc. The diagnosis- hypothyroid, Hashimoto Thyroiditis to be exact, triggered, or at least contributed to, by long standing osteomyelitis of the knee. This is a frustrating component and not easily solved but, hopefully  stabilized. For now, after some titration and adjustments of thyroid meds, I am doing better, especially in the hair loss department. Geez, vanity, right? So….with that being said, I’m so happy to be back to writing and posting on a regular basis. Thank you for your inquiries and sweet notes and patience during my absence. You, my lovely readers, are why I do this, so thank you and let’s get back to it….

Time to stop the days from spinning away, so pick up the feather pen, and write again about what you love.

So what to expect? As I began to feel better I took a most amazing extended trip abroad. It was beyond wonderful, and filled my eyes with visual beauty, my mind with questions and answers, and my heart to overflowing. I am excited to be able to share all about that, along with more amazing homes and interiors, some upcoming big changes, future and already completed design projects and more. I have recently made a couple of trips to San Francisco and Muir Beach, and I look forward to sharing my photos and thoughts about a place I so love to visit and enjoy, and have done so many times over the years.

So with emergence from the rabbit hole complete, I will visit with you again tomorrow, and it’s back to my passion for interior and garden design. Again, thank you so much for sticking with me. I have never met most of you, but with so many, I feel I can rightly call you friends, as you have shown me what friendship is. Your loyalty is a gift. Blessings wished to you all. See you tomorrow, nature willing and the creek don’t rise…..Laters, charisse

Enjoy the Super Bowl !

  1. I’ve really missed your blog, and since it means you must be feeling better, I’m extra happy for you. I’ll be watching for more. I think often of looking at some of those Europe pictures, especially after the horrible time that occurred there fairly recently. Anyway, I’m happy you’re back.

  2. So glad you’re back. I’m looking forward to your posts (and hope you post about your travels).

  3. So glad you are back and doing well. Missed your daily inspirations.

Glad you’re back. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid & a goiter 15 yrs ago & was a nurse until I retired & won’t take the medicine for it so a Dr. from India who did the needle biopsy to see if it was cancer told me not to eat beets & use only iodine salt, which I did until I read that pink sea salt is a natural iodine & I switched. My nutritionist teacher in nursing college looked up my condition in one of her books & she was shocked to find out that I should not eat soy, cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, peanuts, cauliflower & most of all beets, all of which I love & was eating regularly & only white sea salt. I haven’t had a goiter & my levels are good ever since I quit eating all of these things & my hair is thicker too. I only use the pink sea salt from Sprouts for the past year & it’s been beneficial. I didn’t want to be a slave to the thyroid medicine & I’m doing fine for the last 15 years. If I eat out & the goiter starts growing I know it’s from one of the items on the list. Hope you’re doing better. Blessings to you & your loved ones. Sharon

    • Hi Sharon, Thanks, I am glad to be back, and thank you for taking the time to share your thyroid experience. I have read two books, one Stop the Thyroid Madness, and the other Root Cause. They have helped me become much more knowledgeable about this, and to make much better choices about diet as it relates to hypothyroidism. I don’t have a goiter thankfully, but like you, have to avoid most of the same foods you mentioned as well as additional foods I really enjoy. It is a long road, and my ultimate goal would be to be free of having to take any medication for it. I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. Thanks for writing. I really appreciate it.

  6. So glad you are back! You were missed.

  7. BEVERLY MC TURK

    Welcome back….missed you!

  8. Welcome back!! Enjoy the Superbowl as we root our home team to a win (Go Panthers!) Your blogs, are like friendshio: it doesn’t matter how long between conversations, you enjoy each one!

    • Thanks Laurie for the sweet welcome back. I will indeed enjoy the Super Bowl. One of the Panther coaches, Bruce DeHaven is very ill with terminal prostate cancer, yet he has continued to coach, so I hope the Panthers win. He is humble and carries himself with such grace. It should be a good game. Enjoy.

  9. Glad you are out of the rabbit hole. Looking forward to more posts and maybe a visit in person!
